CDL Driver - Erosion Control Support

Job Description:

Soil Concepts Inc. is hiring a dependable CDL Driver to support erosion control operations across Eastern Iowa. This role involves driving trucks and hauling trailers to job sites, operating straw blowers and hydroseeders, and assisting with site setup and breakdown. If you’re a licensed CDL driver who wants consistent, local work with a hands-on crew, this position is for you.

Responsibilities:
  • Safely transport materials, equipment, and crews to job sites
  • Haul trailers with erosion control equipment (hydroseeders, straw blowers, etc.)
  • Operate heavy equipment including tractors and hydroseeders
  • Assist with jobsite setup, silt fence installation, matting, seeding, and more
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of assigned vehicles and equipment
  • Follow project directions and support Foreman with daily job execution
  • Communicate clearly with crew and management
Qualifications:
  • Valid CDL (Class A or B required)
  • Clean driving record and DOT-compliant
  • Ability to haul trailers and maneuver in tight jobsite areas
  • Comfortable with physical labor and outdoor conditions
  • Experience operating hydroseeders, straw blowers, or tractors preferred
  • Must be punctual, safety-minded, and reliable
  • Willingness to assist with erosion control work outside of driving duties
Work Schedule:
  • Monday–Friday, report by 6:30 AM to shop in Marion, IA
  • Occasional weekends or extended days based on project needs
  • Seasonal work with potential for winter layoff

Erosion Control Laborer

Job Description:

As a Laborer at Soil Concepts Inc., you’ll work hands-on to protect Iowa’s landscapes through erosion control solutions. From hydroseeding and straw blowing to installing silt fences and laying sod, you’ll be a key part of building stronger, safer job sites. We’re looking for dependable, hard-working team members who show up on time, work well with others, and take pride in a job well done.

Responsibilities:
  • Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment daily
  • Perform erosion control work including:
    • Hydroseeding
    • Straw Blowing
    • Silt fence installation
    • Matting
    • Sod Installation
    • Raking and hand grading
  • Follow foreman’s instructions and jobsite plans
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Represent SCI with professionalism and respect on every jobsite
Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Valid driver’s license preferred
  • Reliable transportation to the shop (Marion, IA)
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor
  • Positive attitude and team-player mindset
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all conditions
  • Prior experience in construction or landscaping is a plus but not required
Work Schedule:
  • Monday–Friday, report by 7:00 AM to Marion, IA
  • Occasional overtime as needed to complete jobs
  • Seasonal work with winter layoff, returning in spring
